A&C Conference This Weekend!

This next weekend (October 18-20) is the Roycroft Campus Arts & Crafts Conference. Friday night kicks off the weekend with an Oktoberfest of Bavarian style food and drink with live music at the Power House ($30 per person). Saturday and Sunday follow with lectures and artisan workshops all affordably priced a la carte from $10-$45. Sunday also features a tour of bungalow homes in East Aurora ($25 per person). 2013 Roycroft Campus Arts & Crafts Conference

To all A&C followers - 

The Roycroft Campus Corporation is hosting the second “Well Crafted Weekend” on Campus, October 18-20, 2013. 

Beginning Friday evening with an Oktoberfest event of food, drink and music in the Power House, the weekend  continues with lectures, artisan demonstrations, workshops, a bungalow house tour and film. Topics including the rise of the automobile, Gustav Stickley, John Ruskin, and color theory for the home are just a few of the lectures that will inform and inspire you. 

Affordable a la carte pricing for individual lectures and workshops ranges from $10-$45. An overall program pass is $100. Find program details on the RCC website.

An Evening with Roycroft Master Artisans, Oct. 3

    A signature feature of the wares in the Copper Shop Galery are the Roycroft Renaissance Artisans’ pieces. The Artisans also teach many of the classes held in the Power House. These talented men and women and the beautiful objects they produce are a large part of what brings the Roycroft Campus to life, “as if Elbert Hubbard never left.” 

    In celebration of this work and to raise funds for the RCC to continue the Campus restoration, we invite you to an evening to meet Roycroft Master Artisans, view their work, dine on a sumptuous meal and have the opportunity to purchase artisan objects at auction. Tickets are $100-$125. The event is Thursday, October 3 from 5:30-9 p.m. See the RCC website for further details.

Rockstoration Celebration

Come celebrate the Roycroft Campus peimeter stone wall restoration - known as "Rockstoration" - on Friday, August 9 from 6-9 p.m. The Power House will be "rocking" with a BBQ and live music. Tickets are $20 per person. Previous donors to Rockstoration will receive complimentary tickets in the mail. Call 655-0261 for more information.

Knox Farm State Park Lecture

A new book from Arcadia Publishing features the Knox Farm State Park of East Aurora. Buy the book at the Roycroft Copper Shop and come hear the authors' - Gerald L. Halligan and Renee M. Oubre - lecture on Wednesday evening, July 24 at 7 p.m. in the Power House on the Roycroft Campus. This event is free to the public.

Roycroft Summer Festival

        The Roycroft Summer Festival makes its annual appearance in East Aurora this June 29 & 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days. RALA Artisans will be at Parkdale Slementary School (141 Girard Avenue).

        On the Roycroft Campus, the Copper Shop is ready for festival visitors with everything "Roycroftie" and the Power House will be open to the public so that visitors may go inside this newly reconstructed building. Artisan classes are held here throughout the year and the building is available to rent for business functions, receptions, and weddings.         Tours of this National Historic Landmark Campus are $10 per person and are given at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sundays. You can buy a discounted combination tour ticket for both the Roycroft Campus and the Hubbard Museum at the Copper Shop.

        I recommend ending your day with a Peristyle porch dinner at the Roycroft Inn. The same porch where Elbert Hubbard had lively conversations with famous visitors that became the material for his periodicals. And, the same porch where you can soak up the "calm of the country," as Elbert put it, and of which he was so fond.
