Elbert Hubbard and Horse Thieves

As you know, Elbert Hubbard criss-crossed the nation speaking on various topics. He was very much in demand. He also had a passion for horses so it was not surprising to learn that Elbert spoke at a unique dinner.

   The Society in Dedham for Apprehending Horse Thieves is "the oldest continually existing horse thief apprehending organization in the United States".

Elbert Hubbard was the keynote speaker at the annual dinner in 1908. He spoke on the poetry of Robert Browning and said "a more refined and intelligent audience I never saw".

This organization still exists and has their annual meeting on the first Tuesday of December each year.

Come for a visit to lovely East Aurora. We have plenty of horses in the surrounding area but no horse thieves that I know of.
